Our establishment
La Cueta is the last village in the district of Babia and the highest in the province of León (1,470 m). It remained isolated for many years, enabling it to preserve its landscape and traditional architecture. Set in a strategic place between Asturias and León and thanks to its good connections, Léon, El Bierzo and the Asturias coast can be reached in a little over an hour. CASA RURAL LA CUETA ALTO-SIL is a traditional mountain house with a stone hallway facing east. Preserving its traditional structure and spirit, it was carefully refurbished to obtain large, welcoming rooms that combine traditional materials with original solutions to offer greater comfort for guests. Our 300 m² country house lodge was built in 1870 and fully refurbished in 1988. It is in excellent condition. Its welcoming and friendly atmosphere is particularly noteworthy, as is our staff who will be delighted to help you with all you require. CASA RURAL LA CUETA ALTO-SIL is for rental on a room-by-room basis all year round and the whole of the house can also be rented.

Useful tourist information
The privileged spot of CASA RURAL LA CUETA ALTO-SIL offers visits countless activities and trips of interest due to the great beauty of the region. A visit to the district of El Bierzo in the north-east is worthwhile, only a stone's throw from Galicia and Asturias, where quad biking is possible.
We also recommend a visit to the educational archaeological site of Las Médulas, the largest Roman gold mining site and the Chano Hill-fort, an exceptional archaeological site located in the mountains of Léon in which the remains of a hill-fort population from Los Astures have been preserved and kept fro mteh passing of time.
All types of snow sports are possible in winter. Extreme peace and quiet can be enjoyed all year round.
We should make special mention of our guided excursion to the Barrios de Luna - a trip to the origins of the Cantabrian Mountains. Travel way back in time at one of Europe's most interesting geological sites.
Many classic trips to the most beautiful mountains in this area of the Cantabrian Mountain Range begin from the house itself, including those signposted to the source of the Sil River, the origins of Babia, the Somiedo Nature Reserve (declared a biosphere reserve by the UNESCO), the village of Cabrillanes, visiting the Las Verdes lake, the high Cantabrian mountains, the seasonal migration routes, La Cueta, Peñalba de Silleros, Piedrafita de Babia, the well-praised house of Vega de Viejos, the Torre de Babia tower and the Sanctuary of Carrasconte.
Other activities related to nature are possible in the area surrounding our country house lodge, such as fishing, hiking, bike and snowshoe hire, canyoning, hunting, climbing, horse riding, caving, mountaineering, orienteering, wildlife watching, skiiing and multi-adventure.
